Recently, a major breakthrough has been made in the field of neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnet materials. A new composite NdFeB magnet, jointly developed by multiple domestic research institutions and enterprises, has successfully achieved mass production. Its comprehensive performance has improved by over 30% compared to traditional products, marking a crucial step forward for China in the realm of high-end magnetic materials.

Although traditional NdFeB magnets boast excellent magnetic properties, they have shortcomings in terms of high-temperature stability and corrosion resistance, limiting their applications in extreme environments such as aerospace and deep-sea equipment. The newly developed composite magnet introduces nano-scale rare earth oxide particles into the NdFeB matrix, forming a unique dual-phase structure. This not only retains the high-energy product characteristic but also raises the temperature resistance limit from 180℃ to 230℃ and enhances corrosion resistance by 40%, addressing the issue of magnetic performance degradation in humid and hot environments experienced by traditional products.

The NdFeB-samarium cobalt composite magnet, developed through collaboration between the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Hengdian Group DMEGC Magnetics Co., Ltd., employs a gradient composite process to precisely integrate the advantages of different magnetic materials. Test data shows that the composite magnet achieves a magnetic energy product exceeding 58 MGOe and a coercivity of 28 kOe, with magnetic performance fluctuations controlled within 3% in the temperature range of -50℃ to 200℃, far surpassing industry standards. This material has been successfully applied to the drive system of a certain type of deep-sea exploration robot, withstanding the high-pressure environment at a depth of 7,000 meters.

On the enterprise front, Zhongke Sanhuan has established a production line for the new composite magnet with an annual capacity of 500 tons, utilizing an intelligent sintering control system to maintain a product yield rate of over 95%. According to the company's technical director, the manufacturing cost of the composite magnet is only 12% higher than that of traditional products, but its service life is doubled, significantly reducing the full lifecycle cost in applications such as electric motors for new energy vehicles.

Industry experts point out that the breakthrough in new composite technology has overcome the limitations of relying solely on a single material system for high-end magnets, opening up avenues for the broader application of NdFeB magnets. With the maturation of mass production technology, it is expected that the market share of composite magnets will grow to 25% over the next three years, driving the upgrading of related industrial chains towards high-value-added segments.
