In recent years, the global industrial landscape of NdFeB (Neodymium-Iron-Boron) magnets is undergoing profound transformation, with Chinese enterprises steadily ascending in the global market through technological breakthroughs and capacity advantages, gradually transitioning from "scale-driven dominance" to "technology-led leadership."

Data reveals that China accounted for 85% of global NdFeB magnet production in 2024, a 12-percentage-point increase from five years ago, with exports of high-performance products surging by 38% year-on-year. Chinese firms now command over 70% of the market share in high-end sectors such as new energy vehicles and wind power. Traditional magnet manufacturing powerhouses like Japan and Germany have seen their market shares continuously decline, cementing Chinese enterprises as the cornerstone of the global supply chain.

This shift stems from a convergence of competitive strengths. Technologically, Chinese companies have shattered overseas patent barriers by developing heavy rare earth-free high-performance magnets, with a leading enterprise achieving a magnetic energy product of 56 MGOe, on par with international benchmarks. In terms of capacity deployment, industry leaders have established integrated production bases in rare earth hubs like Inner Mongolia and Jiangxi, enabling full control over the supply chain from rare earth smelting to magnet processing, while maintaining a 15%-20% cost advantage over global peers.

In global market competition, Chinese firms are accelerating their international expansion. Beyond securing long-term supply agreements with automakers such as Tesla and Toyota, they are constructing overseas factories in Southeast Asia and Europe to circumvent trade barriers. In 2024, Chinese magnet manufacturers boosted their penetration in Europe's new energy vehicle supply chain by 9 percentage points year-on-year, disrupting Japan's long-standing dominance.

Industry analysts note that as global carbon neutrality efforts intensify, demand for NdFeB magnets will continue to rise. China's integrated strengths in resource security, technological innovation, and production scale are poised to further solidify its global leadership. Looking ahead, the global industrial landscape may evolve into a "China-led, multi-polar collaborative" paradigm, with Chinese enterprises gaining greater influence over technological standards and industrial regulations.
