Recently, the 2025 China NdFeB Magnet Industry Summit was held in Shanghai, bringing together over 300 magnet enterprises, research institutions, and downstream application providers from both home and abroad. They engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as technological innovation, market expansion, and supply chain security, jointly exploring new paths for high-quality industrial development.

Themed "Industrial Upgrading of Magnets amid Green Transition," the summit focused on industrial opportunities within the context of global carbon neutrality. The "White Paper on the NdFeB Magnet Industry" released at the event revealed that the global market size surpassed 300 billion yuan in 2024 and is expected to exceed 500 billion yuan by 2027, with annual demand growth in sectors such as new energy vehicles and low-altitude economy equipment set to remain above 30%.

Technological innovation emerged as a hot topic of discussion at the summit. The team from the Institute of Materials of the Chinese Academy of Sciences shared their research achievements on "low-rare-earth, high-energy-product magnets," utilizing grain refinement technology to elevate the energy product to 55 MGOe while reducing heavy rare earth usage by 60%. Leading enterprises showcased magnet recycling technologies that can increase the recovery rate of scrap magnets to 95%, thereby reducing dependence on raw materials. Experts attending the summit called for the establishment of a collaborative innovation platform integrating industry, academia, research, and application to accelerate the resolution of common challenges such as coating corrosion resistance and high-temperature stability.

The issues of supply chain security and international cooperation resonated strongly among participants. In response to fluctuations in rare earth prices and trade barriers, enterprise representatives proposed a full-chain layout plan encompassing "resources - production - recycling," recommending strengthened cooperation with rare earth producers in Myanmar, Australia, and other regions, as well as advancing overseas factory construction to mitigate tariff risks. Representatives from European Union enterprises expressed their willingness to collaborate with Chinese counterparts in establishing a magnet standard system, with both sides having reached a preliminary consensus on mutual recognition of REACH certifications.

During the summit, 12 enterprises signed an agreement to jointly establish the "NdFeB Magnet Innovation Alliance," which will facilitate cooperation in areas such as technology sharing, centralized raw material procurement, and overseas market expansion. Industry insiders pointed out that this summit has provided a crucial platform for industrial synergy, and in the future, it will be essential to drive the NdFeB magnet industry toward a higher stage of quality development through technological breakthroughs, chain integration, and global collaboration.
